Certified in accordance with the EU Animal Health Regulation (BmTierSSchV) and therefore approved for trade in EU-certified hatcheries and abroad.
The Bresse*Gauloise breed is particularly suitable for direct marketing farms with small groups. The eggs are somewhat smaller but particularly tasty. As the animals are purebred, it is very easy to reproduce them on the farm without the splitting effects of a cross breed.

Parameters | Performance |
---|---|
Optimum laying performance in 52 weeks | 160 – 180 Eier |
Shell colour | cream |
Target weight at the start of laying period | 2.0 - 2.3 kg (16th/17th week of life) |
Weight end of 1st laying period | Living weight 2.8 kg Slaughterweight 1.7 kg |
Feed consumption with 100 % organic feed | 140 - 150 g/animal&day |
ÖTZ Bresse Gauloise hens are friendly, self-confident and lively, but can be a little skittish as pullets.
They are robust and frugal animals whose nutritional and physiological requirements are already met by low nutrient concentrations.
The provision of crude fiber (e.g. bran, silage, hay) in the feed mixture is highly recommended. If the feed is too rich, ÖTZ Bresse Gauloise hens tend to become fatty, which reduces laying performance. Laying hens should always be in good condition and should not exceed the recommended maximum live weight of 2.8 to 3 kilograms.

Roosters should be kept in a group of roosters only until a maximum of 17 weeks when they reach sexual maturity. After that, the potential for aggression increases and growth stagnates.
ÖTZ Bresse Gauloise are very suitable for extensive fattening with alternative feed components (sprouted grain, potatoes, oats, whey, etc.). Nevertheless, starvation should be avoided under any circumstances.
