Inga discovered her passion for poultry at school and specialized in it during her studies. Since the ÖTZ was founded, she has been in charge of organic poultry breeding, where she is responsible for breeding and parent stock. As Managing Director, she is also responsible for marketing, communication and press, as well as the political work and networking of the ÖTZ. Her tasks also include project acquisition and fundraising.
The ÖTZ is part of the project “sLowFeedChickIns - Optimized nutrient supply of dual-purpose chickens - Adapted rations, alternative protein sources, effects and adaptation options”
Neuer ökologische geprägter Gesamtzuchtwert für die Rinderasse Deutsche Holsteins: RZÖKORZÖko stands for Organic Relative Breeding Value in the Holstein-Schwarzbunt and Holstein-Rotbunt breeds. The RZÖko is an overall breeding value that weights the individual traits it contains (e.g. longevity or body condition) and trait complexes (e.g. the complex of health traits in the RZGesund) in the sense of an ecological breeding goal. It thus serves both breeding organizations and practical breeders as a direct selection tool for the systematic realization of an ecological breeding goal. It is comparable to the ÖZW in the Fleckvieh and Braunvieh breeds.
Dr. Ophelia Nick, Bundestagsabgeordnete und Parlamentarische Staatssekretärin im Bundesministerium für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft (BMEL), informierte sich am 27. Juni 2023 am Zuchtstandort der Ökologischen Tierzucht (ÖTZ) in Goch am Niederrhein über die Vorteile von ökologisch gezüchteten Zweinutzungshühnern im Hinblick auf Tierwohl und ökologische Haltungsbedingungen. Der besondere Fokus lag dabei auf der Frage, was es konkret braucht, um die Züchtung und Haltung von Zweinutzungshühnern zu unterstützen.
